Our star gets another award this year, this time from the Tamilnadu government. He has been awarded this, under the category "Special Prizes 2008" - Best Actor for Vaaranam Aayiram.

Off late, many fans had sent him a mail inquiring "was he in Orkut,Facebook,Twitter or in general any social networking site?"

Thus,he wants to make it clear to all that he is not into any such social networking sites till date. On the internet he just visits his fan club ( yahoo groups - which is there for a long time now ) and replies to the fans' mails whenever he is free. One such mail was this.

He does know about these sites but does not have enough time to personally use them. He suggested to his fans not to fall for such tricks/fake profiles on those sites. He also stated that he would address his fans shortly.

Surya denies rumours of Katrina Kaif

Precisely, when the official announcements about trilingual flick from duo Surya-Murugadoss were made, there rounded up the weird buzzes.

According to the rumors penned by columnists, it was stated that Surya will be pairing up with either with Katrina Kaif or ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ fame Anushka Sharma.But, addressing the media channels, Surya clears up such calls saying that A.R. Murugadoss hasn’t completed penning the script and how come they can finalize the star-casts. On the dot, Harris Jayaraj happens to be the happiest person as he will make his comeback in Bollywood after his long back with ‘Rehana Hai Tere Dil Mein’ (remake of ‘Minnale’).
The film will be made simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

1. Party, Discos, Drinks, Cigarette – no such habits. After shooting he would prefer to be under the warmth of Appa,Amma and Wife. When questioned about this – he said my dad was like this.

2. A devotee of Lord Murugan, would perform daily rituals to the lord. Had been to Thiruvanaamalai recently without any footwear for a Girivalam.

3. His food routine: Health drinks every morning, 3 pieces of chicken; chappathi’s and boiled vegetables for lunch; juice for evening and chappathi’s again for dinner. Strictly no sweets.

4. Since he will be doing a bollywood movie with Ram Gopal Verma, he is learning hindi from 6pm-10pm after the shooting of Singam movie everyday. All this because he wants to understand the dialogues and dub in his own voice.

5. In the areas of Pollaachi (Tamil Nadu), generation of electricity is done using wind mills – Suriya is the owner of these wind mills.

6. Since he has some experience in the garment sector, he himself designs his own costumes for film shoots.

23. Recently he obtained the permission from the director, took a flight from Karaikudi and came to Chennai – spent the day with his family and then went back the same evening to the shooting spot – reason: his wedding day.

24. Recently in a national survey, Suriya came first; he rejected their invitation when they approached him.

~ What is that title - Singam (Lion)?

A lion does not fear anyone; the character that the hero plays in this film is also of the same type. This is a 100% action film and hence such a majestic title.


~ Does Singam have any meaning in particular?

In a police uniform (Indian), you can see the emblem of a lion. In that only three lions will be visible to us and the fourth one cannot be seen by us. How will it be if that lion (4th) comes out royally? That is what I’ve said in the film.


~ Is this film also a village based story?

All my films are village based. This is what people like and encourage in my films. This is also of the same type.

~ Then, is this film also like Vel?

In Vel , Suriya would have acted as person liked by one and all . In this he will be acting as a person who is courageous.


~ What is Anushka’s role in the movie?

Anushka’s role in the movie will be shown differently, I cannot speak about it now.


~ How is Anushka’s acting?

After Singam, Anushka will go to a higher level. I am satisfied with her performance. Tamil cinema has got another good and talented heroine.

~ Are you going out of the country for song sequences?

In most of my films, song sequences are shot here, but for this movie we have planned to go and shoot in foreign locations. The locations are yet to be decided

~ Is there any sentiment in you for Karaikudi?

Nothing like that. Many movies have been shot here before. Vel was initially shot at Dindugal and then it was shot in many villages before we concluded it in Tirunelveli . We have planned to shoot this movie in locations like Kutrallam, Karaikudi, Tuticorin and in some parts of Kerala.


~ Have you got plans of making a big budget movie?

Till date, I have directed 9 films. Singam is my 10th film . When I was a assistant director, I had dreamt of making films in a particular way – I’ve done it that way now. I am an admirer of such big movies but I have my own style of making movies and I will stick to it.



While we were speaking to Hari, a shot had been completed and a lot of fans had come to the spot to witness the shoot , Suriya spent sometime with them and he enjoyed it. A lot of school kids also came across – Suriya at that time said – all of you study well, it would be a nice sight. Please do not spend much time here in this hot climate, please go home, and watch the film once it comes out - he said gently. The fans were delighted and then left the spot. We then caught up with Suriya who was getting ready for his next shot.

~ What is this new get-up?

I am a police officer in this movie, A police officer will have a unique moustache and hence this get-up. The shooting has been going on only for some days now; it has come up well so far said Suriya.

An update on Singam

The shooting of Singam is presently going on in Karaikudi and the crew will be there for another week or more. The next phase of shooting will take place in Tuticorin

Reliance Big Pictures in association with Studio Green are producing this movie. Anushka will share the screen space with Surya. The cast includes Nassar, Prakashraj, Vivek, Manorama and others. This film is directed by Hari and this is Surya's 25th film.

The music is handled by Devishree Prasad and cinematography is by Priyan, V.T Vijayan will handle the editing.

Star Name Report : A fake

We have seen some websites carrying the news that there has been a new name for Suriya. They have titled it as "Narpani Naayagan". This is to confirm that there is nothing of that sort. The actor does not have such a name so far and it is just a name given by some of his fans.
Suriya always claimed he did not want to add any titles before his name...since he has already changed his name from Saravanan to Suriya!

So he remains to be "Suriya" and no names before the original one as of now.

In the movie Singam, Surya wont be bearing this title as mentioned in those websites!

Arun Vijay Thanks Suriya

After the success of Malai Malai Arun Vijay is a very happy man indeed. This comeback film made by his father-in-law Dr Mohan under the Feather Touch Entertainments banner has resurrected his career he feels. Now he will be essaying a new face with ‘Singam’.Wonder why we mentioned only these two from other Suriya movies? Well, ‘Aaru’ and ‘Vel’ was directed by Hari and the director is back with our heartthrob once again with ‘Singam’.

The movie recently went on the floors in the scenic Kutralam. Suriya will be romancing the sizzling Anushka and they will be supported by Prakash Raj and Vivek. The movie is produced by Gnanavel Raja, along with R.Prakash babu and S.R Prabhu, Suriya’s cousins and bannered under Studio Greens. Devi Sri Prasad will be handling the music scores.‘Singam’ is said to be an action family mass entertainer with all the essential ingredients

Surya shoots in Kuttaalam for SINGAM

In right terms, there’s no waiting for Surya fans. Yeah! The actor is keen on delivering couple of films at the least. Merely, much before is ‘Aadhavan’ would get released, he has started shooting for his 25th film ‘Singam’.

The first schedule is rolling fast across exotic locales of Kuttralam. Over there, talkie portions involving Surya and Prakash Raj is being canned. Filmmaker Hari is known for fast-completing the filming portions with predesigned plans.

If what we hear from the sources is true, we believe Hari has planned to shoot a stunt sequence and couple of songs in the following schedule.
